Dear Volunteers

Welcome to Possible Nepal First of all, we would like to thank you for being here to help us. Your participation in our organization represents a lot of good things for our children, they are so happy to see new volunteers!
You should know that this organization is poor, particularly in staff, and that is why we rely upon the contribution of voluntary service.

The purpose of this introduction is to give you information about the running of possible Nepal Children Home. It will also give you information about your voluntary service.

It s difficult to know where we can start to explain about it, as there are so many things to tell you! Yet, step-by-step you will learn by yourself.

For Volunteers

We want to welcome foreigner volunteers in our orphanage Home for long or short periods of time. It is possible for volunteers to sleep outside the orphanage where we hire apartment (Volunteer room) or in our volunteering room with local family. Volunteers can take breakfast, lunch and dinner in with host family not with children in orphanage home but sometime if children request you please, you can take lunch or dinner with children like one time in a week. It is very helpful to make a donation for these services. This can be discussed with Kapil and you can find an agreement.

The running of POSSIBLE NEPAL is aided by the help of Nepali and international volunteers. These volunteers use their specific skills to help in, and in the shelter as careers for the children. Some of our volunteers also assist us by purchasing pencils, textbooks and crayons for the children, as well as organization special events such as birthday parties.

POSSIBLE NEPAL relies upon the Nepali volunteers as its key teachers in the school.

    • Your involvement as a volunteer

    volunteers can be involved in POSSIBLE NEPAL by several ways:

  • In the shelter, volunteers give their time to take care of children, play with them, help them to do their homework, organize special parties and excursions, and provide all children with affection.
  • volunteers are assistant teachers for students from playgroup to class one. Volunteers can help in some basic English, math and science lessons. It is possible to organize other kind of activities during school time (sport, music, and games).
  • Volunteers can help with administrative work in order to support the management of the orphanage.
  • In the running of the shelter, volunteers can also assist the staff with cooking Nepali foods and keeping the grounds tidy.

    • Volunteer must be do the following responsibility

  • Help children to do their school homework.
  • Volunteer must help children to wash their hand, help to do their personal thing.
  • Volunteer can play with children.
  • Help in kitchen to cook.
  • Pick up and drop from /to school.
  • Help children to wash their hand before eating.
  • Draw pictures with children.
  • Teach in school if volunteer interest.
  • Play indoor and outdoor game with our children.

    Accomodation

    Volunteers are needed throughout the year, for short or long periods of stay. Currently the shelter has a volunteer room, which can accommodate two people. If there are more than two volunteers at the time of your stay we can arrange for you to stay in a Nepali family’s house or in a hostel.

    As a volunteer you are provided with a big Nepali breakfast and dinner (Dhal Bhat - rice, dhal and a vegetable curry), and a small snack for lunch.

    Possible Nepal does not charge a fee for your volunteer services, however a small contribution is required for food, Accommodation and electricity.

    Airport Pick Up

    Normally The cost of transportation from Tribhuvan International Airport to our organization is $18.But if you wants to take taxi from airport to our place by yourself instead of picking up.. It cost $12

    Conditions for volunteering

    We try to create the best environment for our children, so you are required to follow these basic conditions:

  • Volunteers must be more than 20 years old.
  • POSSIBLE NEPAL is unable to provide volunteers with a salary for their work and cannot pay for their travel, visa or passport, food and accommodation.
  • POSSIBLE NEPAL provides the volunteer with a simple room with common bathroom ( there are internet, hot/cold water and emergency light) . If you wish to sleep outside of the accommodation provided, you are required to pay for this from your own funds.
  • POSSIBLE NEPAL provides volunteers with the same food with host family (mainly dal baht for breakfast and dinner). If you wish to eat something else you are required to pay for this yourself.
  • It is forbidden to smoke or drink inside of POSSIBLE NEPAL.
  • Don’t use violence or bad language with children and ensure that nobody does.
  • The volunteer is allowed to buy some material or toys for all children but they will have to assume these expenses.

    • For Visitors

    The organization receives visitors who have heard about POSSIBLE NEPAL. thanks to the network which is created by members, staff, volunteers and other organizations. These visitors often come for a day to see the work of POSSIBLE NEPAL and may choose to give financial support, school utensils, toys and attention to the children.
